There are two elements to the
eDesktop system:
The eDesktop application, which
is installed by the recipient.
The Administration Area used
by the organisation broadcasting information to the
eDesktop users.
The eDesktop Application
Users of the eDesktop information
delivery system, must first install the eDesktop application.
This can be done by download from a web-site or upload
from a CD-Rom.
Before using the application
for the first time recipients of eDesktop messages answer
a few questions about the type of information they are
interested in - thus ensuring that only relevant material
gets to the users and that they remain interested in
the broadcasts.
The content is branded as befits
the information being delivered and is fully configurable
to give maximum impact and memorability. In its most
basic format eDesktop can deliver text and images along
with web links. eDesktop can include bespoke applications
such as a calendar, which can be used by the client
to schedule reminders and draw attention to important
dates, and by the user as a personal organiser. eDesktop
can deliver video, music and games within an exciting,
dynamic and fully interactive environment.
Administration Area
The broadcasts can be scheduled
to arrive at a precise time on a given date, using the
request information provided by the user. News can be
delivered to the whole user base or to specific sub
groups. In this way eDesktop ensures that the information
delivered is relevant and up to date.
Step 1
The content manager enters
information to be broadcast via a simple admin system
Step 2
This information is then placed
on the eDesktop Broadcast server.
Step 3
The broadcast is then made
at the required time with the appropriate content for
predetermined sets of users.
